new torque converter trouble

I just bought 2800 stall converter and done a 355 swap. went to take it for its first ride last night and when i put it in gear its starts making a grawling noise only in gear. from under the car it sounds like its coming from the converter but im not sure and of you experience this with a new aftermarket converter.

What makes these converters go bad and do this

Re: new torque converter trouble

Are you sure you got it all the way in?

It can fool you and feel like its in, when its not.

Always best to do it like 30 times in a row to make sure its all the way in.

If not, it can still bolt in but will just chew up the trans pump as its not engaged right.

Should sort of cluck in twice, when your puttin it in, it does it once, then ya twist n fiddle to get the TC notches to hook into the pump and it does it again.

yeah it was all the way in i had done it several times to make sure. and it didnt do it right away. it almost feels like the converter is locking up like a 1 to1 ratio like it didnt even want to pull it self and this stuff is all new no idea why . Im so mad about it i can barley even look at the car.
