I have a 700r4 in my 84 z28 and its toast no chance of it being rebuilt either as its that far gone. anyhow i have a 1975 th400 2wd trans from a chevy truck... is there anything special I will need to do to my drive line?? also will I need to keep anything from the old transmission? Or any new parts? Also where do i get a shifter cable that will work?

Also I have a 700r4 from a 94 chevrolet but it was a 4x4 tranny so would that work without too much modification or??

my car is a basket case as it had a new mr goodwrench ho 305 installed in 93 and its got around 30k miles on it. However being from alaska rust is imminent. I had two parts cars that were totally frame rotted but had great body parts. got 2 doors, seats, door panels, and a center console from an 86. Also got a pair of fenders from an 85 as well as some extra t-tops. So after all this tranny work maybe i will be able to drive my car someday soon! (dreams of said day)..

Any help would be nice as im brand new to the forums as of 10 minutes ago.

 

For starters, the 700 has a 27 spline output shaft, the 400 has a 32 spline. The overall length between the 2 are different enough that you will need to modify the driveshaft. as far as the truck 700 the output shafts and tail section will need to be swapped.
