TV cable adjustment

So I put my new TV cable in and went to adjust it. Tell me if its ok.

I slid the movable D-shaped piece all the way back while holding the metal tang. I then opened the throttle to wide open, used a piece of wire to hold it there. I then slid the D-shaped slider back so that the cable was tight then released the metal tang.

I couldn't get the D-shaped piece to ratchet out so i had to use this method. If this isn't right then I will try to do it the more common way, I didnt want to force the plastic piece. From past experiences it never went well.

Thanks, Chas

Re: TV cable adjustment

I would push in the sliding nipple a little more back in. Just a tad so that you can have some good line pressure at WOT. but your method sounds precise. I had the same issue to. the slider wouldnt slide out when I would mash on the gas pedal.

Same issue with me. Just try it my way. Its basically the same but with a bit more work and finger strength.

Re: TV cable adjustment

Its really up to you. When you open up the throttle and the cable stops just before WOT, then your at the max. Now if you can open up the throttle even more without too much force on the TV cable, then this is max line pressure. If you TPI is in good shape, this is when you chirp the tires though every gear shift when you mash on the gas pedal. You can let the slider out one click if you choose too just to be safe.
