T56 swap into an 88 formula

I was just wondering if a T56 tranny will just go right in with out any changes into my 1988 formula. I roasted my T5 and was thinking if I could just get a T56 and use the same bell housing thats still on the back of my L98. If anyone knows that would be really helpful. Also will a T5 out of a mustang be the same as out of my firebird?
