Swaping a 4 speed too 5 speed
Hey guys took my car to the shop to have the transmission worked on but it looks like its not worth salvaging...so I thought I would go ahead and put a 5 speed into the car. Its an 82 Camaro that has a 4 speed in it. My question is how much trouble iis this, will I need a new bell housing? will I need a different drive shaft length? will this be terrible? how many other parts wll I need?

You can keep your mechanical clutch release if you can find an '83 T5 bellhousing. Otherwise, just convert to hydraulic release by raiding a salvage yard. The hydraulics can come from a V6 car, they're the same as for the V8s. Then any '84-'92 305 T5 will work.
You don't need a T5-specific driveshaft, any '84-'92 version will fit.
The shifter from a V6 T5 will work, that also is the same as V8 versions.

gotcha thank you so much....saw a kit from hawks for 1200 includes a transmission but sounded pricey to me hopefully I can find the bellhousing and and keep everything the same. Thanks again
