Help finding Ball Stud
Hey guys.. Recently had some trouble with my clutch, randomly lost all pressure. Got under the car to see the Z-bar/Clutch cross shaft out of place and the Ball stud/ Pivot ball for the Z-bar sheered off at the block..
Does anyone know where i can pick one of these up or order one??
Thanks for the help!
BTW, its a mechanical linkage if it makes a difference/

Re: Help finding Ball Stud
Autozone has them... called a "clutch ball stud" on their website. $12
Summit Racing has them too, if you search for "clutch fork pivot ball" on their website. Just make sure to get a 13/16" thread if you ordered from them.
In a sad way, I like when little things like that break... It's my excuse to order from Summit, and other things "mysteriously" get added to the cart at the same time, lol!

Re: Help finding Ball Stud
The ones autozone list on the site don't quite appear to be like mine. Hopefully im wrong though, and I'll check when i head into work tonight lmao
And wouldn't the one summits lists be the stud thats in the bell housing for the fork, and not on the block for the z-bar?
any tips for removing the broken stud? I don't see any way of getting a drill in there, maybe cut a slot into it with a dremel and use a screwdriver?

Oh.... Ohhhh
You're right, I was referencing you to the ball for the fork, not the Z bar.
Found one on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/3-4-S...Q5fAccessories

Re: Help finding Ball Stud
I had looked at that particular ball stud but im not 100% sure itll work, since it is listed for a z28 with 4 speed, and I have a 2.8 with the borgwarner t5 (from factory)

Re: Help finding Ball Stud
If you can get the old one out, you can check the threads and see if the Ebay one should work or not. Other than that, I'm not sure what to tell you. Maybe a GM dealership would still have one in stock

Re: Help finding Ball Stud
I assume the 2.8 uses the same ones as SBC.
The ballstuds were used since the 1960s at least and dealers tend to have them in stock.

Re: Help finding Ball Stud
well i found the supposed right ball stud for it. Looks exactly like the one I had on there before it broke, but trouble is, it seems too short, I can't get the zbar to reach it.
Im hoping that i'm just doing something wrong on my part, any ideas?

GM used those since the early 60s to the mid '80s... I'm sure they can get one. If not, any wrecker will have them.

Re: Help finding Ball Stud
That would be the ball stud I ordered and have here in my hand. Looks exactly like my old one, if my memory serves correct. I just cannot get the zbar to reach the stud, i fought with it trying to see if it was maybe just snagged but its not moving out and closer to the stud
