What could cause this?

My t5 car is having a issue when you turn sharp in a parking lot and your in gear but no gas it makes a rubbing sound. Sounds horrible. Only does it on turns though. Not going straight. Only sharp turns in parking lots. Any ideas?

how big are your tires? Get underneath and see if you might have loose plastics or something else that the tire is hitting (also looking for scuff on the sidewall might give you a clue). It might just be that the side of the tire is contacting something in the wheel well and rubbing.

I doubt it's that cause it does it worse in 2nd. It has 17's on it.
My z28 with the same size rims and tires doesn't rub and it's a inch lower.

moving or standing still? If you crank the wheel all the way over while sitting still, does it make any noise? If the tires aren't rubbing, next thing I'd look at would be the power steering pump.. see if the belt is tight, or if it's surging and making a weird noise in the line. After that would be the steering box.

No noise while sitting, steering box should be ok. It's pretty new.I'll check the belt. I tink it's something with the trans though. It does it mainly in 2nd going low speeds in tight turns in parking lots. Maybe the trans mount broke and it's moving in the turns?

you said the noise is front end though? Like I said.. do a visual under the wheel wells. Make sure no plastics or anything are loose or where they aren't supposed to be. My old bird had that plastic piece at the back of the wheel well come loose once, and I only noticed cause it rubbed on turns.

I'll check it again when I get a break. It sounds like metal rubbing to me though.
