Need 700R4 expert help please!
Hey all, I am in need of much help. I have been stuck on this problem for a few weeks now.
I'll try to keep the story quick.
My car was running fine, everything was working except I had an engine oil leak. I decided to pull my engine out and replace the oil pan gasket.
When I reinstalled my engine I started it and a LOUD screeching was heard.
I took off the engine belts, still screeching, took off my new timing chain cover to check clearance, no grinding, checked to see if the starter was grinding, starter is shimmed correctly and not grinding.
I had a friend start the car while I was under it. The noise is coming from the torque converter area. I did a little research online and decided to check the gap between the flexplate and torque converter. Mine had a larger gap than suggested so i put shims between them and started the car. I THOUGHT the screech went away. I started the engine again to check timing and revved it up and heard the screech again. The screech is consistent with engine rpm.
Does anyone have ANY suggestions?
The transmission is a performabuilt stage 2 with a 9.5" 3500 stall converter.
If you need any other info or have questions let me know.
Thanks,
Dennis
