How to ID a T5 V8 bellhousing from a V6
Took a T5 trans in on trade, trying to figure out if its a v6 or v8. Whats the easiest way to id the bellhousing?

No ID tag on the transmission?
Google 60 degree V6 bellhousing, do the same for Chevy V8 bellhousing. The bolt pattern is what you want to pay attention to... The 60* V6 housing is tall and narrow, 90* V8 is short and wide.

Or just count the input shaft splines & check the diameter.
V6: 14 spline, 1" diameter
V8: 26 spline, 1.125" diameter
V6 bellhousing was somewhat "square-ish" looking if I remember right, been a while. The V8 was more smooth on the outside, rounded
