GM switched to 7-5/8 around 1986. Basically everything else is the same as the 7-1/2" diff except the ring gear size. Even though your car will have a 7-5/8" ring gear, the diff itself is still referred to as a 7-1/2". All parts such as posi etc for a 7-1/2" will work in yours.

and it "should" be 3:23, open, if its still the original rear and nobody has messed with it over the years.
