200c to 7004r swap
Can anyone tell me the parts needed to swap a 200c to a 7004r trans.?
I have an all original 1982 Trans Am with a Crossfire FI 305. I would like to purchase the parts for the swap over the winter. Also are there any good companies that build up 7004r with all the heavy duty internals, etc.? Thanks for the help in advance, David

Do a search there's a ton of info on a swap. As for a rebuild I would check into probuilt automatics.

Re: 200c to 7004r swap
I've done the reverse of what you intend so I can help.
The 700r4 cross-member is different it puts the trans mount a few inches further towards the back. You can probably modify your th200c cross-member or just get a 700r4 one.
The torque arm and drive shaft will need changed. They are both too long for the 700r4. I would save yours though because they would be perfect for someone doing a TH350 swap. You may be able to simply modify the torque arm since it is too long. I modified mine and made it longer, worked great and has for quiet a while, yours will need to opposite though.
You may as well put the right speed-o gears in before you install it too. You just might be able to swap the drive gear if you are lucky, it's worth checking to see if the driven gear is the same.
There is one "annoyance" you may want to fix is the shifter gates. The shifter in the car will be setup for no OD but it can be fixed. I don't know personally I left it be I don't need to read what gear it's in. You could do a pro job though and get the cover with the correct drive mode's (with OD) from the JY and adjust the gates and it would look factory. It's a good idea if anyone else EVER drives your car. Speaking from experience I let my wife drive my car and explained in detail about the gates and still she drove 80miles round trip in 2nd gear
..
Everything else hooks up just like the TH200c did if I recall correctly. It's been a couple years now but I think that's it.
