What is the best 6 spd for a 87 IROC?
I am looking to put a 6 spd in my 87 IROC. It is a street car/road racer with a 383 (500hp est.), sub frame conectors/roll bar/ 9 bolt rear end. I have read about different brands but I am looking for some pros and cons about what's out there. I was looking at a Richmond (I'm a stock car guy) but I read some mixed reviews so I'm hoping to get some real world advice from people who have already been through this. Thanks for any help.

I have a friend with one of the older double overdrive richmonds. I have a T56 and I like it a lot better then his richmond. As far as strengh, Orr ir on the money. The T56 is fine.

If you want a rock solid 5 or 6 speed look into a Tremec TKO or Magnum series. They are rated for 550-650hp and 700ft/lb depending on the model. My buddy just put a TKO-600 5speed in a 70 chevelle with a built 396. He bought a full kit from http://www.americanpowertrain.com/
