TransAm-Firebird GTA driveline identification

Hi,First off i would just like to say hello to everyone here.I am a fellow 3rd gen lover.
Your site has helped me several times Thank you.As most new members most likely have a question, I do as well.

I just bought my second 1987 GTA and i feel the car has been raped of its true parts.
I was hopeing somone could help me in the identification of the suspension and driveline.I recall my last GTA to have coil-over struts this one seems to have separate spring and shocks setup. Not to mention it will roast one tire and i dont think that the rear end is even posi.several items have been raped from this car taillights center caps interior possibly even the engine and trans and complete k-member.Any help would be great.T.i.A

Re: TransAm-Firebird GTA driveline identification

k-members are all the same, all suspension parts are pretty muchn the same, just different size sway bars and 1le cars had different rubber bushings in places.

the rear could still be a limited slip rear, just worn out.

no 3rd gen EVER came with coilovers. The front is a McPherson strut setup, separate spring and strut.

have any pics of the interior? parts may have been changed, but over the years the interiors were a little different so all may be correct already

Re: TransAm-Firebird GTA driveline identification

Hi, Thanks for the informative response.I do not have pictures atm but im planning on using one of the car as my sig. There is a sticker on my door panels with a incorrect date of manufacture. Also like the tail lights are marked with a 85 ect.
I just got the car in the air today and it is a posi 9 bolt but yes i believe the posi is weak.I cannot mistake the front sway bar for anything other than ws6 due to the fact it is FAT!
I haven't measured the diameter of the rear axle yet tho.Ill get those pics up by tomorrow of the interior.
Again thanks for the response!
