HELP!!! Lost O.D.??!!

Hi every1. 91 TA 350 L98 4L60

Runnin speed limit, hit brakes and put it down to 2nd on shifter at about 45 mph in addition to full on brakes...( to miss about 17 turkeys)

After that my Overdrive was lost!?? Ok, i dropped the pan and seen whether the linkage was unhooked but it wasnt so proceeded to change filter/fluid anyways. Reset the plastic sleeve with the tab that you can push to reset it, and put it at the correct length (according to shop manual) not chilton or hayes. i think that is on the kickdown cable-- (correct me if im wrong)--- but STILL NO O.D.!!!

Could it be that the cable itself stretched? I am really hoping that it is something external. And the fluid was in really good visual shape when i dropped it...

The first "three" gears are the same as before with just the overdrive being gone?

Yes. And also, i bought the car from a guy who rebuilt the L98. He said the OD doesnt work, so i dropped the fluid/filter right away, and OD suddenly worked!!! Then during this recent mishap it disappeared!! Maybe im thinkin cable issues or a sticking TV valve or ???

A friend suggested it could be the electric module box on the valve body, or maybe even the Govenor,,, from the quik OVERDRIVE to 2ND GEAR shift.... sound plausable??
