torque arm

when removing my t5 do i have to remove the torque arm from the axle and do i have to remove my rear springs?
thank you and sorry if its a stupid question

Just wedge a wood block between the body and the arm then remove the bolt from the tourqe arm mount then remove the trans as normal . If you don't wedge the arm it will rise up on you and it could hurt you if your hand or arm is in the way . No need to remove the arm or the springs .

Either way, you're gonna have fun reconnecting it. There is a bit of pressure from the rear trying to twist up, causing the torque arm to do the same.
