how long till my trans explodes??!

ok i just put 3.73 gears on my firebird and was wondering what the damage would be to my 700r4 if i dont change the speedo gear for about 4 months, i have already been driving like this for 2 months and im getting worried that the trans is shifting too early,

Speedo gear has nothing to do with the timing on trans shifts in these cars.

yeah but for example i could be going 90mph (im guessing) and my speedometer reads 120 so the trans disengages, and i read somewhere here that the speedometer has something to do with the timing of the shifts, idk

Speedometer has nothing to do with the timing on trans shifts in these cars either.

Sort of like it's hitting the speed limiter which cuts fuel or spark to slow you down?

yeah but i think i read an article here that the 700r4 in the base firebirds and rs with v8s would disengage when the speed hit 120, guess gm thought it was too much or something, fuel or spark didn't even occur to me though
