So, last year I purchased a 3.73 posi out from under a 94, sat in the garage until yesterday. My 86 is about to get some color on it and I wanted to get the new rear mounted and the C6 wheels and tires on and check if I needed to roll the fenders prior to paint.
The damn thing is the exact width of the stock 86. I had to use my 2" spacers that were for the front on the rear.
Guess I need to check the numbers on the rear again, don't know how in the hell the new rear is narrow.

A 94 wouldn't have been equipped with OE 3.73's. And, of course, as you realize, the 94 is wider. Sounds like a thirdgen rear to me. IIRC, backing plate to backing plate on a thirdgen is approx. 57", and axle flange to axle flange about 62".Originally Posted by Jeff14R

It measures up as a thirdgen, that is what was so odd. I watched it get pulled from the 4thgen and I know it is a 3.73 posi. It had to have been swapped at some time. I am going to get the numbers off it tomorrow and see whats up.
