Its definitely not worth the hassle.

(a) The shifter location is different, as you mentioned

(b) The S10 has no provisions for the torque arm mount (may be a non-issue if you switch tailshaft housing)

(c) You're still left with a V6 T5 and not a V8 one with better gearing (although it will work, it just won't be optimal)

I'd go a different route, for sure.

this is just to get me running right now to find a later t5 to really use. i dont want to swap in an auto so this is just to get me rolling again. i just use it to ride to work which is just less then a mile

Since you've already got a T5, you'll spend a fair amount of money making this one work.

You'll have to swap the parts, AND you'll have to buy an S10 clutch disc as well. The V6 T5 and V8 T5 have different input splines.

It can be done, but again, you're gonna spend time and money, to make the wrong trans work.....

In theory, you can turn a non-WC S10 T5 into a non-WC V8 T5 w/ the right parts.

But why wouldn't you just rebuild the V8 one you have?
