B/W 9-bolt - Limited slip slow to lock and transmit torque
My LS seems to be slow to 'lock' up. I got stuck today on some ice when I was going up a ramp into a parking lot. One tire was on ice, other on pavement, and the damn thing just wouldnt transmit any torque right away. After some messing with it, it did finally lock up and allow me to get in.
Same thing on pavement. Mash teh gas down, and for a second or two, it acts like an open diff, then abruptly begins transmitting torque to the wheel that has traction. Its about 10 degrees F out or so, so I dont know if that has anything to do with it. I do know that the car wasnt driven real far, so teh gear oil was still cold.
Is it just old age, and the cones are worn, or could it be my diff fluid? I cant recall remembering to add teh LS addative. I think I just have standard gear oil in it. Is the addative a friction modifier to stop chatter, or does it also increase the friction between the clutch/cones?

Yeah, I guess theyre worn and dont have the tension they used to, so they dont lock up as fast. I'll have to pull the carrier when it gets warm and see if theyre still servicable.
