tv cable broken?

tv cable broken?
i was driving my 86 z28 home from work one night last week,when as i pulled up to the stop sign it suddenly wouldnt shift up out of first gear-i drove the 1500 feet to my driveway,and put it in reverse,which worked fine-after i pulled it in the garage i saw the tv cable mount on the throttle linkage had pulled off,and the mounting ears broke off. does it sound like if i replace the cable i will be okay?i see the end on the tranny will be a tight squeeze but i think i can get my hand in without dropping the rear of the tranny ,i hope!

well you have to change it no matter what. So change it and see how it is. I think you will be okay.

how does a valve body go into fail safe?and do i need to do anything to get it out of fail safe mode?
