Transmission Swap

Okay.... I'm hoping there are some people out here that can help me...

To start off, I'm sixteen years old and not exactly able to come up with thousands upon thousands of dollars to do big projects.

I just recently got a new camaro ('90 IROC-Z). And, for the most part, I am really enjoying it. The only real turn-off for me is that my prior camaro ('84 Z-28) had a manual transmission, which I loved, and this one does not.

I am looking to find a way to swap my current transmission with a manual one.

My understanding is that the my car wasn't offered with a manual transmission (350).. And, from what I can tell, it is because the manual transmission used at the time couldn't handle the torc? (I may be wrong)

So it seems that I am going to have to go with a newer transmission... My father has been working on project cars for my entire life and I know the problems that come up and the time it takes when trying to do stuff like this.

What I am looking for is a suggestion for a transmission to use and an tips to make this process as fast/cheap as possible.

Thanks
