9 Bolt Questions
1. I could have sworn that there was a 9 Bolt sticky on this board in the past. Did it get taken off?
2. On one of the many 9 bolt posts, a member from Australia indicated that BW Australia had updated the original cone-type differential. I never saw confirmation that these would retro-fit to the 3rd Gen 9 bolts. Did the late GTO use a 9 bolt type differential in it's IRS center section?
3. Related to the late model GTO, has anyone seen the True Trac limited slip offered by Randy's Ring and Pinion that is listed to fit both the 2004-06 GTO and the 3rd Gen 9 bolt? Has anyone used this part to replace the posi. found in the 9 bolt?

4. Looking for some ideas as to why my axles will not install past the first set of splines inside the diff. when the rear end is assembled but when I pull the diff. the axles slip completely into their proper position. It's like something is blocking the axles from fully inserting (bearing, etc.) although nothing has been changed or modified since pulling the axles for the first time.
Thanks!

Re: 9 Bolt Questions
Sounds like the cones and side gears do not have their splines aligned. When the rear is assembled, it can make it VERY hard to install the axles. You can turn the axles once theyre engaged with the cones with a large breaker bar until they line up with the splines in the side gears.
If you have the rear apart, just insert the axles fully into the partially assembled carrier, and then tighten both halves of the carrier with the axles in place. This will line up the two sets of splines for you so you can reinstall the axles once you get the carrier back in. If they still wont go back in, then the carrier is misaligned with the housing.

thanx for the heads up at randys...
now if we could get some moser axles.
summit has that diff to... after looking at them, they dont say what series the carrier is.

Re: 9 Bolt Questions
Appreciate the tips! I have removed the differential twice now to check the alignment of the cones and side gears (thanks for identifying which parts need to align) and off the car, the axles fully engage. It is only when I re-assemble the diff. to the rear end that I can't get full engagement of the axles. It's like they are catching on something! I'm going crazy with this issue!

Re: 9 Bolt Questions
Thanks James C. - I have seen that post and it has been helpful but I seem to be the only person who has had a similar problem getting the axle to fully seat. Probably need someone to take a look at what I'm doing who know what is going on.

Re: 9 Bolt Questions
Anyone have any experience with the Nitro Gear Ring and Pinion for the 9 bolt? Just Differential's has a great price ($170) for the 3.70 ratio.
