7 inch 4.11 gears auburn Questions

Hello everybody iv looked around but couldnt find much on this rearend. I have a 92 rs and I want to swap in a better rearend. Its not a daily driver so I dont really care about mpg.

Someone is selling a 7inch auburn 4.11 gears from a 87 pontiac formula. I am guessing this is a 26 spline so I know i will have to switch mine from 28 to 26. He is asking $250

Is this a good deal and will it work in my car??

Thanks

-Joe

keep looking, dont swap back to a 26 spline rear, thats a step backward.

Like previously stated its a down grade. Dosent matter if the gears are higher the axles will be weaker. If your gonna have to buy new axles stick with 28 spline.

I wouldn't buy a use Auburn for $1. You can't tell if it's worn out or not, and they do wear out. When they wear out they are scrap metal. They can not be rebuilt. Get a 28 spline Eaton Posi or a Duragrip and a new set of gears. You will be much better off. Used gears are hard to set up because the contact pattern is hard to read.
