Fairbanks Shift Kit

The transmission is a 700R4 Fairbanks kit A74171. I would like to do this only once and you can't go back from competition to street performance because I have to drill out holes to a larger size to allow the fluid to flow quickly into pistons, servos and remove springs behind accumulators(cushions). I would expect competition to bang the gears even at low speeds. Street performance is an improvement over stock but smooth enough for normal driving.

Does anyone have any experience or know some one that does?

Re: Fairbanks Shift Kit

If you are blocking accumulators (except 4th gear), and making it shift hard at light throttle openings, then this is not the kit you need or want here, as this can destroy the transmission. Even when a valve body kit is setup for racing, it should not give you hard part throttle shifts. There are other kits that work much better without the side bad effects.
