Hey I'm pretty new to the concept of utilizing a rear other than a 12 bolt, dana, or 9 inch, but have recently decided on making a car that can actually turn rather than just go straight.
Anyways, I'm looking at a guy selling a 10 bolt from a 97 ws6 for dirt cheap and i'm just wondering if there are any differences between the lt1 10 bolts and the ls1 10 bolts.
Is it worth my while to grab the lt1 one? Are there any differences besides the brakes? and do the ls brakes bolt up to the lt1 rear without any fab.? Sorry for my incompentence haha

Doesn't matter that the car has those "WS6" stickers. Nothing functional about it is any different. The rear is the same as any other LT1 car.
The LS1 10-bolts have a Torsen posi, while the LT1 ones have a crappy Auburn that's probably already mostly worn out and may have bigger mechanical issues than that, NONE of which is repairable except by total replacement.
The LS1 brake system is also arguably better, by way of its parking brake setup.
There's typically a reason why a used auto part, whose price is determined ENTIRELY by how "desirable" it is, is "dirt cheap". Think about it.
I would pass and keep looking.

IIRC, the LT1 will be equipped with an Auburn limited slip, the LS1 a Torsen. Originally Posted by Infested

If both are disc brake cars, the LS1 brakes will bolt to the LT1.
Check the below for 10-bolt info:
