restoring to a 700r4
Hi fellas,
Been a while since I posted up and have been slowly working my car.
I'm at the point where I bought a 700r4 from pull a part about a year ago in anticipation of getting the th350 out of there...too guzzly on the wallet.
So with my motor finally out getting a cam, it's time to do the trans swap.
Here's a couple of Q's I have had burning inside me.
I read here a lot more than I post. So I only ask what I cannot find already.
I believe the th350 has the long tail so the driveshaft should not be an issue....also I have someone who can give me the right shaft if need be.
I've read that I may need a different crossmember for the 700r4...can someone clarify this for me.
Also...and let me just tell you that there's no money for a rebuild or shift kit....I do have a gasket and filter which came with the car when I bought it. Apparently the previous owner bought the wrong part because it won't work on a th350.
The question regarding that is...should I go ahead and replace the filter and gasket or leave it alone?...and should this be done under the car or on the bench. I'm kinda scared to open up the tranny because I've never been inside one before. Don't know what to expect there. Don't want anything dropping out and what have you. It's uncharted territory for me so...I'm wary.
As always...any info or pointers will be welcomed.
Again...sadly there's just no money right now for parts or beefing up.
will be in future, but not now.
Thanks guys.
