total gearing

To use a hypothetical car/situation... A 300 HP engine in front of a T5 with a 273 rear end... what kind of performance would one expect? thinking of swapping to the 6speed. If it' got a lopey cam thus meaning top end wud that set up even bark the tires? what if the rear was changed to 373 rear? Thanks.

Too vague of a question to comment on.

Re: total gearing

Yeah.. Your right.. Let's say a built 355 putting out 350 horsepower with a high lopey cam... 5 speed tranny and 273 gears... Probably won't lay much rubber down but should reach 145 mph with ease and maybe keep on going and possibly get 22 or better cruising on the interstate... If the rear was changed to a 373 or maybe even a 355 it would probably leave rubber behind through the first three gears (assuming the tranny holds up) but cruising the interstate what milage would you guess? 14- 15? Now, if you had that set up but put the six speed behind it would you guess the extra overdrive would get back up to the 22 plus milage range cruising while still putting enough HP to the ground to spin the tires through the first couple of gears?

Re: total gearing

IF I get what you're trying to say, then yes the 6 speed would give you all you need in regards to maintaining your good gas milage and still letting you have fun in the 1st 3 gears. The t56 is geared similar to a t5, but just with an extra overdrive.
