Car: 1989 Pontiac Trans Am
Engine: 5.0 TPI LB9
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: 10-bolt 2.73
Rear end gearing and type?
So i have an 89' trans am
wondering how i could find out the gear ratio, and whether its positrac or not!?
i dont know much of anything about the drivetrain so pardon my ignorance!

you can look under the center console lid for a GU# then check it on this web site

if your referring to the RPO codes those are non existent for my car, long gone lmao
im going to assume its the stock rear end, but its been through a few owners so i dont really know

Axle/Gears: Moser full floater m9, 3:70 trutrac

the car is 22 years old, no way to know what has possibly made its way intot he car by now.
im sure the axle hasn't had a fluid change in years, if ever, so now is the perfect time to pull the cover off and do that. while your in there, you can count teeth and see what the ratio is, and look see if its a open rear of a limited slip.
take a pic if you cant tell.
count the coverbolts too, see what rear you have, a 10 bolt or a 9 bolt
if its all original, its supposed to be a 2:73, and should be a limited slip 10 bolt

ill have to do that tomorrow when it gets lighter out! lol
as for doing the fluid change, never done one of those so i guess im gonna have to learn how haha
