is it possible to rebuild a posi diff?
Sorry if this is a dumb question.. Im trying to sell my whole rear-end that lost a C-clip. I replaced the whole thing with a Moser 9", and i want to get more than just scrap metal price for my old rear end. The ring and pinion are shot and the Auburn posi has some chunks missing in the spider gears. 28 spline axles are good and i have a reinforced aluminum Jegs diff cover. Am i crazy for asking $250 for everything? The diff cost me $500 new. Im just wondering if its junk. Thanks

Re: is it possible to rebuild a posi diff?
The auburn posi is non-rebuildable so if its shot someone is going to be looking for a new posi unit for that rear. 250 is way too much even when u spent good money on it. The second the posi let go that 500 dollar investment did too. Its worth maybe 100 bucks to the right person to just throw a Eaton posi in it. It does have 28 spline axles so thats a plus. 250 is the price of a working stock rear end with nothing wrong with it.
Maybe worth a bit more with that Jegs cover on it. Just saw that.

The Auburn unit is not repairable, if it's more than a couple of years old. (like, about 2) They don't offer any repair parts for ANY of them, and if it's too new for their "rebuild program", it's beyond repair. IMO, buying an Auburn was a mistake, sorry you did that. Shoulda got an Eaton instead.
Broken R&Ps and busted Auburns are not worth anything; I would pay less for a group of stuff that came with that, because then I'd have to pay more for shipping, and deal with extra hassle of throwing stuff away.
Sounds like all you have there of any value, is a pair of axles and a cover.
If they're stock axles, they're probably worth about $100-125, because people really want those. Might have to wait a while to get it, until the right buyer shows up (they eventually will, but it may take A WHILE).
The cover is prolly worth about $50-75 at a guess. Those are only around $150 new IIRC.
If I had that stuff, I'd sell those 2 items separately, rather than as a package.
Sucks I know, but no sense in keeping the rose-colored glasses on, and selling none of it because the price is just too high period.
