Rear Swap
Rear Swap
So I want to put a posi rear on my 3rd gen and might get one from the local junk yard beut they mostly have 4th gens. So the 4th gen with bolt up properly correct? the only thing you need is wheel spacers is 4th gen wheels right? Also if your going from drum to disk you need a disk master cylinder?

You'll need spacers on the front only to put the 4th gen wheels on the front of a 3rd gen car - I want to think folks use a 2" spacer, but I'm not 100% sure - a
will verify.
You don't need any spacers to keep the stock 3rd gen wheels - but you have to have 16" wheels to run the 1998+ LS1 rear discs. It's just that the 3rd gen wheels will stick out a tad farther on each side (about 1.5 inches).
On the 4th gen rear, get 1998+ if posible - better larger rear brakes (LS1 rears).
Also, get all the emergency brake cables up to the split in the tunnel - makes it easier to connect 3rd gen ebrake with 4th gen rear.
