changing shift points

Is it possible to re-govern a 700r4 to shift earlier without ruining the transmission? My reason for asking is because my engine makes peak power at 4000rpm but my trans shifts a little over 5000rpm at WOT.

Re: changing shift points

Yes. Thats' how you "adjust" a 700, the proper way, in fact. Set the TV cable where it BELONGS, then work on the governor to tune the shift points. You can buy spring & weight kits for them to set it up how you want it.

Re: changing shift points

Sure. You'll want a governor weight recalibration kit.

Dana should be able to guide you on it and hopefully find the parts you need. He's very friendly and knowledgeable when it comes to 700-R4s.
