transmission noise

Hello I have a 1989 Camaro RS and when I shift it into gear it jerks and makes a bang noise any Idea ?

Automatic or manual?

If automatic, might be a bad tranny mount - they are about $6, not hard to replace. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...er=154757_0_0_

If not, then might be bad U-joints.
