Th200c conversion
ok, ive been searching all over and haven't found any threads that have fully answered my question. pretty much im looking at getting a new transmission in the very new future. The guy im taking it to says he will do a rebuild of my th200c for around $700+ $75 for a heavy duty shift kit, which to me seems like an amazing deal. My problem is that with my experience the 200c isnt an amazing trany, like it works, but its not something spectacular. maybe its just mine, but i could never get a burnout or even a little chirp of the tires at a stop light and i want something with some more oomph. plus i get terrible gas millage so an overdrive would be amazing. anyways my question is would it be better to keep my th200c and rebuild it or switch to either a th-350, a 700r4, or a th-2004r. or which would be easiest and cheapest to swap with the 200c?

Lets face it if you want to enjoy cruising in your car your going to want the overdrive. The way gas prices are the only way you could justify sticking in a th350 is if your planning on racing the car.
If you go the 2004r route--- you can use your driveshaft and most everything will bolt on with the exception of the crossmember and torque arm. You will have buy or fabricate a cross member that can mount a torque arm to it, the 2004r doesnt have holes for one. You would want to swap the speedo gear out of your 200c into the 2004r. It must be a dual bolt pattern tranny, or atleast have a chevy pattern, or you will have to find an adapter to mount a chevy block to a BOP trans.
If you go the 700r4 route --- you will need the driveshaft, crossmember and tq arm from a donor car, shouldn't be hard to find since most third gens had these. But I don't believe the crossmember will bolt into the car the way it is intended unless you drill and tap the frame in the correct spot. I believe the 200s are shorter than the 700 so the crossmembers mount in different spots to the car. As far as your linkage bolting up and your trans cooler lines some one else will have to chime in as the whether or not those will need modification.

If you want a free TH200C that has about 40k miles on a rebuild and worked fine when it was pulled for a LS1/T56 swap, come and get it.

id say yes, especially since your near by, but i think im getting a level 2 th200c rebuild with a heavy duty shift kit for $700 so im already looking at a good deal haha but ill keep it in mind if this doesn't work out
