85 2.8 auto, had the tranny rebuilt a few months ago first gear was fried, was driving on the highway when my tranny wouldnt shift into 2nd, its with my mechanic right now but i wont hear anything until it gets flat bedded to the place he subs out to for automatics, I couldnt hear any grinding gears and im not leaking tranny fluid, it just wont shift, any thoughts?

 

If all there is is 1st and reverse then the governor isn't working. Either stuck or the gear on it apple-cored.
