Rear end I.D.

If someone could link me to a rear end identification thread that would be really great. I have been searching for about the last hour and got tired of wading through all the crap.
Car is an 83 Sport Coupe with a 2.8l v6 and t5 trans.
If I have been understanding what I've been reading correctly, there is a good chance that this car has a posi rear end.

Since the car is 20+ years old, who knows what might have happened in intervening years. That said, check the link below for info that might be helpful:

Re: Rear end I.D.

I know for a fact that this car is 100% original, as it was bought new and has been in my family since. I can't just open the diff, because the car is about 18 miles away from me in our shop at the moment. Thanks for that link!

'83 2.8 means 7.5", and probably NOT a posi. Not unless it was special ordered.

Well thats a bummer.. I also have a rear end in an 81 2nd gen. 2.8l w/ auto trans. Any chances of that being a posi?

Re: Rear end I.D.

99.999% of straight 6 (pre-'80) and V6 ('80-up) F-cars didn't get a posi. The only real exception being the '89 TTA. That said, posi has been an option in most years, but was usually only combined with a 6 by people planning on lots of snow driving. That typically means states that are pretty far north.
