T4 BW in gear...forever

Im attempting to rebuild my first motor. Ive got the motor and tranny in the car and now it will not come out of gear. When i look at the linkages on the gear shifter the far right link is full aft. The shifter no longer moves to the left or right like it usually does. I have a T4 Borg Warner. When i had the tranny out and attached to the motor my friend and i thought it would be a wise decision to remove the transfer case to make it easier to drop in the car. We got it removed...partially. It slid out about 6 inches but got caught up on some unknown entity. So we reinstalled it. Apparently not a wise decision. I cant think of anything else at the moment that will help. If i can get this rebuilld done then i will start rebuilding the 350 in my garage into a 383 so any help would be awesome. Also i dont know much about transmissions so explanations about how you came to any solutions would be greately appreciated.

The T4 was an internal rail shifted B-W trans. closely related to the T5.

An 82 Z should have a B-W T-10 or Saginaw; either has an external shifter like you're describing.

Have you put the shifter at the neutral area, and adjusted each of the 3 shift arms to where the shift levers are in neutral?

Re: T4 BW in gear...forever

how would i go about adjusting them? The shifter appears to be in neutral but the car acts like its in gear. Even when you push in the clutch the car still wont budge. I can take pics of it and post it on here if that will help?

Re: T4 BW in gear...forever

ok i believe that what tranny i have is a T10. On the side it says
9-24-81
MLT 1004
1304 065 903
W.G. DIV
FPC3

Does anyone know a good website i can get a diagram and rebuild instructions?
