Problem with my 86 tran am transmission
Hello, the problem started after i was being a retard and was doing burnouts and i had to slam on the brakes to avoid a curb after i did that i did a reverse burnout and totally messed my car up. After i did it, i started going down the road and the car was not accelerating at all, then it started smoking so i pulled over and opened the hood to find tranny fluid all over the engine bay (it came from the dip stick). So i figured i just needed to put more in but that was not the solution. Now my car revs with high RPM when i drive it but with little acceleration, also when i let of the gas the RPM just drops to one (idle) and the car also bucks a little when stopping and just after taking off. The engine revs just fine so i know its just the tranny alone. I have no idea what is wrong with the tranny. Another problem i had before this happened was on the highway, i was driving and the car made a grinding noise when i past 60 and it slowed down. If someone could try and help me that would be great. Thank you
Also the transmission is from an 89 camaro

A T56 swap kit is a phone call away. :jest:
A burnout where you load the brakes to hold the car in place puts the torque converter under pressure that tends to balloon it. This will ruin the fluid coupling relationship between it's internal turbine parts.
Time for a rebuild with new converter.

Depending on how long you done the burn out you could have gotten the trans and torque converter very hot. Most likely you fried both. Long burnouts are very hard on the converter and trans. After it cools down pull the pan and see if there are any parts in it. Look for clutch material in the bottom. It will be like black mud. If you do rebuild the trans go ahead and upgrade it to a 88-up 700.

Thanks for that information rob. Im just gonna pull the engine and tranny out again and put a 5.7 in it so ill replace the converter then. That info. is very helpful. Thank you
