hey guys n gals,im new and still learnin' my chevy stuff,but heres the deal... about a year ago,i picked up a 87 camaro z28 with a 5.7 350 tpi swap,but not sure what trans i have in it. havent had time to check for casting numbers or look at the bell housing and count. the guy i bought it from said he swaped the motor in from a 'vette,but cant remember if he said the trans too. ive googled and searched came up short,but like i said im learning my chevys,been into nismo stuff and mopars mainly.
i ask,because lately the transmission has stoped shifting to 3rd from 2nd. so im compilling a list of possibilities until i can get time to get into this more,then order a rebuild kit.
if this has already been asked and answered, thats my bad...couldnt find it.

thanks for the speedy reply! i knew the 700r4 could most definitely be in there,but then again,i have no clue what else could fit,or what the previous owner had done to it,because according to the vin,it was a v6 originally,so...

 

Sure. If it was a V6 then it was not a Z28, There were no V6 Z28's.

If it's a 4 speed auto, then it's the 700R4. If 3 speed, could be a TH350 or TH400.
