700r4 Won't shift until 6-7k rpm at WOT
I just recently bought a 88 I-ROC Z28 with the 305 TPI (190hp engine) and my first ever 700r4. I have only owned T-5's before. I searched the forums about late and delayed shifting and have since had the TV cable professionally adjusted since that was the most common cause.
At WOT the car will not shift gears until way past the red-line. I am talking it will not shift until it hits 6000-7000 rpm, and when it does shift, it shifts fine down to 4000 rpm. There is no governor and rev limiter to it obviously since it winds up past 5000 rpm.
I had checked the transmission fluid level, added half a quart and a can of BG Automatic transmission conditioner to help clean any sludge or anything in it.
Has anyone else ever had this problem before? Could this be a custom chip in the computer or a shift kit? Any ideas?

Sounds like a sticking tv valve or spring or contamination in bore try disconnecting tv cable and at idle by hand yank the cable in and out fast several times tv cables are easy to adjust after yanking on it kill engine hook cable back up press in D shaped button on the adjust tap push plastic piece all the way in toward firewall Get in car an mash the gas pedal to floor return to engine by hand turn throttle lever to wot make sur its tight u can double check by having some1 press throttle pedal to ground and while holding down the D shaped button push plastic part toward fire wall. If none of this helps u might have a sticking governor or stripped gear

Odds are the tach is off. There is a sticky about this on the Electronics board here on TGO. Check that out first before futzing with any trans adjustments.
