Going to run a cooler. Couple questions?

Engine: 97 LT1 W/ Alot of goodies.
Transmission: 4L60E W/ Yank SS3600
Axle/Gears: 3.27 9 Bolt BW
Going to run a cooler. Couple questions?
So I have a 4l60e. Figured its the same for a 700r4/4l60.
Since I installed a Yank Ss3600 in it and gonna run B&M 70264 a cooler. From what I have seen most just splice into the return line for the cooler. My question is the return line is the one going to the bottom port of the radiator, correct?
Has anyone ran a cooler? I guess the most practical spot is infront of the radiator spaced of course?
