easy question. Fill all the fluid

Hello,
I have rebuilt my 4L60 and I'm going to put the oil. It needs 7.9 liters of dexrom II, but I'm not sure if I must follow an expecific procedure, because now the converter, pump, etc are empty.
Must I put all the fluid and start my car ?
and when I start it, must I take any special care ?

thanks

Re: easy question. Fill all the fluid

Fill the converter partway before placing it on the input (and rotating / pushing so it indexes to the input / stator shaft properly) and then once it's in place, add fluid via the dipstick tube. And start.

Re: easy question. Fill all the fluid

Then drive, little bits (like in a parking lot). Drive in 1 a few feet, then in 2 a few feet, then in D a few feet, then in OD a few feet, then in R a few feet, then recheck/refill fluid, and do it again and again until you get it to correct dipstick level without adding anymore.

Then, a short trip (like around the block), then recheck/refill. Then many a feww blocks, then recheck/refill.

This is how I ended up doing mine - after an hour or so, I had the tranny full by slowly working in the fluid like that.
