Is my transmisson junk???

So I have been very slowly trying to fix my camaro getting my motor rebuilt and back into the car. But anyway when I was underneath the car I was messing with the shift linkage on it because when I had parked it after I bought it, it didnt want to stay in park it would roll back. And when I had the motor out and had it parked in my slopping driveway it rolled back into my truck. So what I had thought was that it was because the motor wasnt in or connected to the car but then I remembered that it did it when the motor was in. So what im wondering is if my turbo 350 is junk now?? Any advice would be nice, if the trans is toast then ill just ****** my buddys spare turbo 350. Thanks in advance ya'll

try manually putting it in gear at the transmission itself. Park will be all the way forward. Its possible your shifter and/or cable is not setting it in park all the way. If that doesnt work i'd go ahead and pull the tranny and either put the other one in or get this one rebuilt. You did support the transmission when you pulled the engine im assuming.

Re: Is my transmisson junk???

I have already tried to put it into park from the transmission, it doesnt keep it from the car rolling back. When I push it forward it doesnt stop, it keeps wanting to go forward but it will spring back to its vertical position where park would be. Any ideas? or is the trans fried and I should just get another one? Yes I have the trans supported up under the car.

Re: Is my transmisson junk???

Well I cant get my one friends trans or wait can I? My friends transmission is a 4wd th350, and what I was told is that it would work. If my trans I currently have in my camaro is a short shaft and the 4wd is a short shaft I can take the tail housing off the one from my car and put it on the 4wd trans. And I was told in vice versa that if it a long shaft and another long shaft that it would work, I just couldnt do a short shaft to a long shaft. Does anybody agree to what was said? It seem logical and makes sense.
