Re: T56 question

To use your cable-drive speedo, the hole in the transmission where the cable would go has to be relocated. So yes it can be done (my 83 is, for example); but it is FAR FROM a drop-in.

T-56s come from cars that are WRECKED for the most part. You just kind of have to wait for somebody to wreck one. At least that's how it's always worked for me... I have never been able to call anybody and have the kind of car I want just randomly wrecked for me. I've just had to wait for jabbering on cell phones to take care of it for me.

Without knowing what you consider "priced extremely high", I can't comment on that. They cost what they cost. And that cost based on what other people are willing to pay. If you think, say, $200 is "extremely high", but there's a guy standing next to you waving $1500 around and asking for the same part, I KNOW FOR SURE who the guy behind the counter is going to do business with. That's just the way it is. P&M'ing about the cost of highly sought-after merchandise is a waste of bandwidth.

Re: T56 question

Yeah 2g seems a bit much; although, since I don't know where you are, I wouldn't have any idea whether or not that's a "good" price there or not.

Maybe there's alot more demand than there is supply, wherever you are. In which case, if transmissions are flying out the door at $2large, then there's no reason for em to drop the price, eh?? Simple economics.

Around most of the places where I've been, something in the $1000 - 1200 range is more normal.

However all that may be, they cost what they cost. If you want one you gotta pay what the people who have em want, for em to give it to you. It's just that simple. If you don't give it to em, they keep it. Ya wanna play, ya gotta pay.
