700r4 q's

my curent 700r4 is vary noisey and im thinking its thge front pump going,so im looking for new ones.my questions are what can i do to delete o/d.
ive heard deleteing it can rise trans temp leading to early death, but if i run a trans cooler it will solve that problem right?also what years are the best to get when it comes to strenght and reliabilty?

What makes you think that it is the front pump going away? Who told you to delete OD? The transmission cooler is a good idea, and has nothing to do with deleting or not deleting ovedrive. If you get rid of overdrive you will have much higher rpm's on the freeway, gas mileage will go down, etc.

either front pump or tq converter, its making a racketing noise in a rythem,it gets much louder when hot,and it does it in all gears and it starts oout as a low buzz until iits its hot then its crazy loud.the noise does stop when i get moving anything over like 10mph and its quiet

Re: 700r4 q's

You don't just delete OD, you have to change Tranny. The 700R4 only reaches full cooling capicity in lockup mode in 4th gear, yes you will burn it up w/o OD, Yes a cooler will help , but not solve the problems you are having. Get it rebuilt and if you really don't want OD then get a TH350 w/ a 9 inch tail shaft. You will have to buy an
after market crossmember also.
Probuilt is right about the rpm and mileage thing, if it's a daily driver I would keep the 700R4....

Re: 700r4 q's

well...the 700r is for sure shot, has 1/2 in play all around the tq converter.can lirerally move like a half inch in each direction, wonder if my tq converter is still good,if fluid insnt burnt and trans isnt sliping, its a 3k stall,it does have a flush hole too.
