Needs a new rear end for my 89 camaro rs v8

Where can I find a new rear axle for my 89 chevy camaro v8 with 700r4?

I destroyed my axle and it rusted so bad nobody will rebuild it.

Where can I get a series 3 axle to replace my series 2 axle for this car?

The "series" is just the gear carrier (posi, open, gov-lock, spool etc). 2 and 3 series carriers just depends on what gear ratio you're using but you can also buy thicker gear sets to use a 3 series ratio on a 2 series carrier.

Do you need a complete diff, axle(s), gears or a posi?

The only axle shaft choices you have a 26 spline which was used up to 1989 and 28 spline which was used from 1990-1992. You can put 28 spline axles into an older car as long as you use the proper carrier for 28 splines. 1989 was a changeover year but the majority of the 1989 cars got 26 spline axles. Very few came with 28 spline axles. If you only need a 26 spline axle, any axle shaft from a 82-89 third gen will fit. Left and right axles are the same length in a third gen.

If you need a complete diff, any diff from a third gen will be a direct swap. Any 4th gen diff will also work but they are slightly wider.

Lol cool, an answer to my question. I just bought my 89 Camaro the other day and dude said it needed new axles for the differential, now i see why everyone i ask says its not a big issue, so i can pull them from any third gen diff on any car and they will work then?

He answered that above but if your axles are rusty....How is the differential (gears) in the middle? If you need/want to change out the gear ratios in the middle, just choose axles to go with that (spline count).

But I gotta ask....How did it get rusty inside? Unless the cover was left off with no oil inside & it sat for awhile, it wouldn't rust inside. If it appears rusty on the outside then it would hafta be REAL bad to require replacing. Never seen one rusted on the outside so bad that it was rendered useless.

Yes it was answered above but you need to know whether it is a 9 bolt cover or a 10 bolt cover rear end. Axles will not interchange fron a 9 bolt to a 10 bolt or vice versa. The whole rear can be swapped though.
