TKO output bushing help

i've had this thumping noise in my car long enough and i've found where the noise is coming from.

on or off the gas, no noise. Cruising down the road just holding the gas i'm getting a rumble type sound by the back of the trans, almost sounds like the driveshaft is rocking back and forth, i get under the car and i push up on the slip yoke and you can hear the clunk noise that i hear while driving, it looks like the slip yoke moves about an 1/8 of an inch or less, the seal is not leaking fluid and this trans is brand new with less than 2k miles on it, and no it's not the u-joints.

would the bushing cause the clunk noise? i dont see how. can it be removed on the tko from the outside with the bushing removal tool?

Don't know about the TKO specifically, but I would strongly suspect that you can change it with the usual tools.

You might want to consider a new drive shaft yoke as well... those wear too.

Don't think a bushing would make a "clunk", not saying that it can't but it doesn't seem likely; but definitely can cause a rumble.

Ive never really heard of that with such a low mile trans but I gues it could happen. There will be a little play there but 1/8th maybe a bit much. check your yoke and make sure its not hr glass shaped.. There should also be a bushing in there that the yoke slides on. make sure its looking ok an is present!
Im guessing you checked your trans mount????

i've checked everything. Everything is new, denny's driveshaft with brand new 1350 series c6 yoke, even tried a different shaft with the same thing.

Re: TKO output bushing help

it may not be the case, but i know that the some c6 yokes had problems with the splines, i "think" they were the inland empire ones and whoever makes/uses those ones. This was a couple years ago when i bought mine, and i ended up with a Spicer yoke.

However, i though the issue would not allow you to install the yoke?

86, yeah my buddy had that problem, like i said it's a brand new denny's driveshaft, i've had this spicer yoke and another spicer yoke, same noises on both, my buddy had the same tko and driveshaft with no noise issues. it's weird. Fortes is sending me the parts. i rebuilt my T5 once and i remember pounding out the bushing from the inside, so i assume it would be similar on the tko, which i just dont want to pull the trans.
