Hey guys I have a 83 z28 with the LG4 Engine and the 5 speed Tranny.
Where is the best place to get parts to rebuild the transmission for this?

Wow 5speeds.com that's crazy
I'll check out the other post according to
http://www.5speeds.com/t5/index.html
it says that the t5 was first used in the s10 in 83 then was used in the 83 with the t5 NWC. Does that mean that s10 trans can be swapped or was it the same innard with a different housing?

Re: Transmission rebuild parts
All T-5s are basically the same innards, in a given year; the bolt-up type features were customized to the vehicle the mfr ordered them for. So yeah, the S-10 and Mustang and Jaguar and F-body whatever else T-5s, are essentially identical internally subject to mfr's specs such as gear ratios, but won't interchange into each other's cars.
And of course when they released the 2nd design on about 87, a number of internal features changed. GM began ordering the new design in 88. Most of the innards in the 2nd design are just different enough from the 1st design that they won't interchange, either.

Re: Transmission rebuild parts
another vote for hanlon motorsports. I've done two T-5s and they are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They will talk to you on the weekend... and they have a great DVD video that shows a step by step T rebuild.
