If it's cable-driven, purchase a gear housing and the correct gear(s) (if need be), put them in place, and screw the cable in.

Re: Quick Question New to Manual Iroc
You need a "bullet", the little retainer piece, a screw (you can get that at the hardware store, it's a 6mm std thread thing), a drive gear (big round one), and a driven gear (long skinny). The exact gears you need will depend on your rear end ratio and tire size. Don't bother with "codes" for the ratio or with what's stamped on the sidewall for the tires. Instead, pop the rear cover and LOOK AT the gears (it's a GREAT time to change your fluid right now, anyway); and measure the tire from the exact center of the wheel to the ground with the car sitting on a level surface, and thetires warmed up with normal pressure.

#68XX. Chevy TH350 speedometer gear housing [the bullet that Sofa mentions), comes with both seals, no gear. (If you have an aluminum housing it needs to be replaced with this steel housing.) (Also fits T-5 and Super T-10.)
