Throw it in the trash and get another one
No matter how much "another one" costs, it's less than "rebuilding" one that ran dry.

Depends on how much of it is trashed from running dry
Could be anywhere from around $300 up to $1000 just in parts
Also depends on why it ran dry in the first place; usually it's because the fluid all leaked out around the front countergear bearing, because the case is stretched, in which case even the case is garbage, and you can rebuild it every day from now til the end of the world and twice on Sundays, and it STILL will never ever be right again
As said, it costs more to rebuild than to get another one
