4l60e or 700r4

Thinking about swapping transmissions because im hopefully soon upgrading engines and will need to beef it up. So i already have a 700r should i just rebuild it and drive it? Or is the 4l60 alot better? What do you run and what do you think? Thanks

Re: 4l60e or 700r4

The 4l60e is the newer version of the 700r4/4l60. Uses the pcm for shifting while the 4l60/700r4 still uses the tv cable. You can run the 4l60e but you need a seperate computer to run it. Stick with the 4l60/700r4. Just remember that your 87 uses a electric speedo and not mech for getting the right 700r4/4l60.
